[14.17] Bug - touch still no working properly

14.17, non-solar, soft reset after every update:

Touch is still not working properly as many users are complaining. It suddenly stops working or lagging and after some time (minutes or hours) it is working fine again.

It is not reproducable. It suddenly happens in activity as in normal watch mode.

  • Actually it started for most users around the release of 1st 12.x FW, it was I think, late October. Around that time it got colder outside (e.g. in EU, USA). If I could notice something like a "pattern" with touchscreen issue, it was that it usually stopped working properly after I returned home from outside (run, walk, ...) and I have scrolled the screen immediately after return to warmer place. Since I'm not HW engineer, I don't have any scientific data for this behavior, but I think it (sudden change of temperature) could cause some changes to the electrical conductivity of the capacitive touchscreen and it is not able to recover from it. Restart (power off/on) could then stop power supply from battery to display and thus "reset" its state. I'm looking forward to warmer days now, so it should (in theory) mean less occurrences of this issue.

As I have said, this is just a speculation, based on my observations. I have started to think about possibility of HW issue, since I hope that if this was SW issue, Garmin would have already fixed it.
