[14.17] Bug - touch still no working properly

14.17, non-solar, soft reset after every update:

Touch is still not working properly as many users are complaining. It suddenly stops working or lagging and after some time (minutes or hours) it is working fine again.

It is not reproducable. It suddenly happens in activity as in normal watch mode.

  • Try switching off touch during an activity.

    Does the touch ever freeze ?

  • Thank you for the advice. I tried both (on and off during activities) some time and it occurs here and there.

  • Strange. This freeze thing is quite a common complaint.

    I don't encounter it at all.

    Not sure if a certain use setting or behavior that may have triggered it. Or if it is a HW defect.

    Why don't you try to make a warranty claim ? 

  • I don't think it's HW related because it was fine with 11.xx and previous FW versions. I was im contact with Garmin Kevin to that (sent my data, ...). Not a big problem at all but still there since 12.xx and later versions.

  • There are some users encountering on the older FW.

    I can confirm the lag. It happened to me in fw 14.15. I had to turn the watch on/off to fix this.

    On the previous fw 13.xx, the touch seemed ok to me.

    It looks like the watch would doing multitasking and when a task gets too busy, the touch starts to lag. Turning it off and on will terminate the task. I'm just guessing, I don't know what's really going on there, but yeah, it happened to me as well.

  • I've been using the watch since June and the touch screen has never worked properly. It always crashed after a few hours and I had to power cycle the device for it to start working again. it's been 3 days since I divided all the views into folders and magically the problem disappeared. I advise you to try this solution while Garmin continues to sleep. 

  • I recently noticed an intermittent  problem with touch that seems to happen at some point most days.   The last few occasions it seems to be lagging in the morning.  Today I had to use the buttons to access the morning report.  But an hour later it was working correctly.

  • Thanks I've done as you suggested and the glances are much more usable anyway like this as it shortens the list and shows the data from the first two items in the folder.

  • I think we have to wait little longer than 3 days... If the touch issue will not re-appear for at least 2 weeks, then it could look as a promising workaround. However, that does NOT mean Garmin should continue to ignore this issue.
