"You are overtrained!" No Garmin, I'm just sick!!!

Last training sunday, training status "mantaining", the same since last july when Garmin changed something in the algorithm. By the way...monday got sick, so stopped trainings. Since then, I'm overtrained. Why? Due to HRV dropped from 50 to 40 and less due to the cold.

But the algorithm is so not-too-smart to check that I didn't trained.

There is no "if this AND if that THEN that" in its code, but only "if this THAN that"

  • This post is beautiful, by now the 955 has become a joke, thank goodness I didn't buy it, at least the 945 works quite well, let's hope that the 965 coming out will be ready on the day of its debut

  • I’d argue that if you were steadily training and then suddenly stopped with a HRV indicating an unbalanced nervous system, then being overtrained is a reasonable conclusion. Being is also a reasonable conclusion, and perhaps it should ask you to confirm, with a prompt to do what I’m about to suggest: use the “Pause Training Status” feature since you’re sick and therefore not training.

  • Would'nt count on that. If that happen it will be the first Garmin in the history that is ready from release.

  • Hello. In my case I also find myself with OVERLOAD because I am with an unbalanced VHR. With a TRAINING LOAD of 327, I don't know how I can continue with OVERLOAD. So until VHR is balanced again, I won't be PRODUCTIVE??? , I have RPE. I feel very good, I sleep almost 10 hours, a fairly healthy diet... the monitoring provided with Garmin and its algorithms gives me very little confidence. Being a watch for runners, it has many defects.

  • I don't see "productive" since last july, when Garmin changed something in algorithm and Training status and VO2max don't change anymore.

Also in my case the overload is due to low HRV caused by flu

  • I firmly believe that you do not exercise during the flu. I also had the flu three weeks ago and my HRV and fitness were going down. The condition changed from Maintenance to Regeneration and after about 3 weeks I am productive with balanced HRV. I only do sports in 3 zones, 4 zones here and there, unless I collect enough points in the load.

  • Sunday last training, maintaining (since months).

Tuesday flu, HRV dropped from 50 to 28, immeadetely "overtrained".

Wednesday and Thursday HRV still low, acute load low, overtrained.

Friday no fever, gone out for a 35min run at 4:37/km, acute load and HRV low, overtrained

Today half marathon with my personal best, HRV low, still overtrained.

It looks only to HRV value. Even if you don't run for 10 days and you have low HRV you will be overtrained

  • Give your body a rest while it recovers from the flu.
