Does faulty altimeter from chlorine affect other values or calculations?

My altimeter has gone wonky (currently says I am at 58k feet), presumably from the chlorine exposure during frequent pool swimming. Manual calibration doesn't keep for long. I don't generally  care about my altitude, but I wonder whether the damage will ultimately affect other sensors or throw other calculations off (e.g., training status/readiness, power during running etc.)? I'd ask for a replacement but it seems this has long been an issue with Garmin watches with barometers/temp sensors, and fear it will just repeat itself with a new watch. Thanks!
