Update 14.13 has ruined my new watch

the new update (14.13) for the forerunner 955 has ruined my watch. here are the list of new 'features and bug fixes' that really regret me updating my watch:

1. removing the white background on notifications and replacing it with the harder to read black background

2. terrible battery life (15-20% on one day with just normal usage)

3. slow and unresponsive touch and buttons

4. re-designed the stop watch and timer button with the harder to black background

5. all emoji's removed

6. haptic sometimes works on notifications

I really don't know what it is with this update because no one else has posted about this?! is it an issues with just my watch or anyone else experiencing the same issues.

is there a way to downgrade back to the older update I was on, or can Garmin please fix these issues

let me know in the comments if anyone else is experiencing the same issues

Thanks

  • Did you do a softreset?

I'm doing great with this update.

  • Hold in the light button until the watch powers down by itself completely. Then restart after say 20s

  • re Emoji's there is a small file that needs to download . try connect to the computer with Garmin Express and it should download the files.

  • My battery life has been good , in fact better than 14.08 or 13.23 so far (approx a day)

Edit: 1 Day 13 hours in at an average of 0.35% . I didn't do any activities in that time , covers two nights with SPo2 and my normal watch face. notification and BT on and connected, iOS. Probably a lot more pfaffing on the watch than normal as well as its a new FW and one is looking around.

  • New version, new person to complain about battery life. Story of the Garmin version releases.

  • Mostly a story of people that do not understand that they have to power off the watch after the FW update.

  • Short of factory resetting, I have done all of this. Soft power downs, hard power downs, forgetting the watch and readding it to the app, clearing the cache on the app, removing and re-installing the app. All appear to be temporary band-aids as the issue eventually shows up again. Some versions are great! 13.15 and 14.08 to name two. Very consistent 0.2%/hour drain! (Awesome! IMO) But only getting 8 day's (calculated as of right now, with 14.13) in smart watch mode? not so good.

Next step for me is to reach out to support. However, even if they replace it, there is enough anecdotal data in the forum that after the first update... I'll be in the same place I am now. I have to say I am most disappointed in this particular Garmin product. And I have owned a few. But I'll try support.

When you say you tried removing and reinstalling the app, what app are you referring too?  Also, what Connect IQ apps, watchface's, widgets or datafields do you have installed?  I ask because on occasion, developers have to tweak their apps to play nicely with updated firmware.  It could be one of those causing the excessive drain.
