With the release of sleep mode and 14.13, some of the discrepancies between the forerunner 955 and the Fenix 7 have been corrected, but yet many still remain. With these watches being so close in price and the main difference being one is plastic vs metal they should have the same software. I do thank you garmin for working to fix these discrepancies between these watches, I really enjoy seeing this support being given! I feel this video really sums up all the differences between these watches(only the software ones). https://youtu.be/K3evf59dv1Y. Again, I have seen some of these be fixed but I will sum up the CURRENT discrepancy between them now.
- the flashlight has many options such as blink, red, etc. on the Fenix.
- left swipe issue(FIXED)
- world clocks do not have a map when adding alternate time zones
- compass is missing the “lock heading” option
- you cannot record a health snapshot through the widget(FIXED)
- no double tap to zoom in on maps(HIGHLY REQUESTED)
- place the palm of the screen to shut off the backlight(FIXED)
- no clocks option for the control center with alarms, timers, and stopwatch in one place.(FIXED)
- No swipe to delete alarms via touch(NOT FIXED)
- no touch(in alarms home page) to disable/enable alarms via touch.(YOU CAN ENABLE THEM)
- sleep mode is missing(FIXED NOW WITH SCHEDULES)
- The “Haptic” option is missing in the “vibe and tone” settings(FIXED WITH KEY VIBE)
- you cannot set holding the down button to a custom hot key(FIXED)
- battery drain(FIXED BUT BREAKS ALL THE TIME)
- POWER MODES ARE NOT AN OPTION
- the built-in watch faces are missing a large amount of customization; turning off second on some faces, etc
- connect IQ faces/widgets lag watch
- no backlight timeout of fewer than 8 seconds(FIXED)
- nap tracking(MISSING ON LIKE ALL WATCHES)
- no scrollable graphs(FIXED)
As you can see, there are a lot of current discrepancies between the fenix seven and 955. But, a lot of these have been fixed, such as scrollable graphs, etc. I do love the work you have put into making these more similar watches but I would like to get you a current list of what still needs to be done. Keep up working on this.
Thanks again, Garmin.
