Data for this activity could not be loaded.

Hi!

Today I recorded my first hike activity on a FR955. After I saved the activity the watch returned to the main watchface. Then I looked for the activity in the history, where it shows up. I tried to view the details of the hike, but I get the following error message: Data for this activity could not be loaded.

I tried restarting the watch, thinking it may help somehow, but nope. nothing changed.
Then I tried to copy the .fit file from the watch and upload it to Garmin Connect, where I got the following error message: The file type you want to import is not supported.

The .fit file has a size of 265 kB, so it is certainly not empty, there has to be some kind of data recorded in it.

Can someone direct me into a direction, where I might somehow recover this activity?

Thank you in advance!

  • I saved the repaired file, you can remove it from your comment. Would you mind sharing how could you recover the corrupted file?
I only have ~50 activities so far on my watch, so not a lot, but I will keep in mind about the cleanup.

I started a "back to start" route at the end point, and the watch reported that it can't find any routable tracks at that point. This could have been my mistake, or something like that, I will never know for sure :)

    Thank you for your help!

  • Wow, thanks for the detailed rundown. I managed to make it work with the hex editor method, and I even found a ActivityRepairTool.bat in the SDK which also seemed to work. Thank you, thank you, thank you! :) This one particular activity wasn't so important, but knowledge is always valuable.
