And again, rapid battery drain with 14.13

I have just updated my watch yesterday to the latest firmware version 14.13. Battery level was at 70% when I went to bed. This morning it is at 45%. It went down in 9 hours while I was sleeping. And no, PluseOx is turned off, so it is not because of that. I did an Indoor Climb activity right before I went to the bed, if that matters. I also did a soft reset after the firmware update.

  • I never seen that fast of a drain on my watch. It could be a hardware defect in your case. Do you have any third party Connect IQ watch face or app on your watch? That could be another reason for background drain.

  • I have one Connect IQ widget. That's all. However, I have been using the exact same widget on my FR 945 for many years with no issues at all.

No Connect IQ watchface. I use the bulit-in one. I prefer using the watch as is, do not like fancy third-party watchfaces.

The watch was in Sleep Mode, showing the new low power stock watchface.

  • That's weird. Just wait and see if others report this as well, but from what I've seen everyone including me seeing improved battery since the update.

If you had the problem on 13.23 too I would definitely contact support, maybe they replace it.

  • I also updated to 14.13 last night but for me it is going very well and especially on the issue of battery consumption.

  • Likewise, i was amazed this morning how much battery consumption had improved.

  • Overall battery consumption may have improved, that's for sure. However, there is still something going on with internal states. Watch may get stuck in some state in some activities, that impacts battery life afterwards. I suspect it might have something to do with this issue:

That is why I mentioned in the post that I did an Indoor Climb activity before the rapid battery drain happened.

Btw, could you guys try out Indoor Climb activity on your watches? Does it behave the same as in my watch? I mean does it always exit the activity and go to the watchface when you press BACK for starting a rest session?

  • On 14.13, much more battery drainage than usual for me.  Getting a bit tired of the buggy sw on 955 now :(

  • W ciągu 24h bateria mi spadła ze 100% do 33%. Jedna aktywność 30 min bez GPS. Ustawienia te same co przed aktualizacją 14.13. wcześniej w ciągu doby spadało 8-9%.

  • Totally weird as I am not having this issue at all.

Sunday evening I charged the watch to 100% and here friday 5 days later the battery says 85% left - I am using the Spiderman watchface, Syncs every day to Garmin Connect on Iphone 14, and Gesture light option turned on.

  • Wow! Only a 3% consumption per day is really good with 14.13!

Which metrics did you incluye in your watchface? Do you have bluetooth always enabled?
