ECG app was just launched for the Venu2, the same sensor package is in the 955 and others, any word on if it will come out to more devices than just the Venu?
Correct. And it's the Venu 2 Plus, not the Venu 2.
We now have official information posted here regarding ECG:
Rumours are telling 965 is close, would be fastest refresh in the lineups history. ECG could be one reason for it.
But then again, it's currently also US only, so they would need it to get it first approved also in other markets for that the be more relevant for new release.
I think constant SPO2 measurement is more important
I doubt ithe importance of spo2 in general very much. Like ECG, spo2 is for healthy people not an issue.
You might say you ‘need’ it if you go to high altitude or a hot country and want to acclimatize. But really? People just take it easy the first few days on a holiday and then run/bike what ever they like. Spo2 isn’t relevant. We’re not elite athletes who compete for a gold medal.
For those who are worried for their oxygen levels in their blood there is a simple, cheap and consistent solution: a finger measuring thingy. Costs 20 euro or so.
SPO2 is only ‘needed’ for people who ‘need’ to collect more data and for marketing to stress the importance of buying a new watch which produces more and more data.
ECG is the same.
If you’re into data collection both features are great.
