Forerunner 955 Series: Disruption When Using Real Time Settings in Garmin Connect Mobile App

We will be using this thread to post any progress/updates to the investigation for the disruption affecting both Forerunner 255 and 955 Series watches, originally discussed here:

Forerunner 255 Series: Disruption When Using Real Time Settings in Garmin Connect Mobile App

We welcome you to use this thread to discuss your own findings and share anything that has helped you.

    1. Just installed SW 14.12. I felt totally disrespected. A regression. More issues on Connect app menu. Menu Options don't open as they are supposed to open. It's been a while since we hear from you guys that you are working on it and nothing changes.
  • My solution was this. "Forget" device on BT Settings. Remove GC App.  Restart watch and phone , Reinstall GC App and Re-Pair the watch.

Some have said just doing the "forget on BT" and then re-Pair did the trick also.

    I am on iOS

  • S.M.R.'s steps worked for me as well.  I'm on Android.  I've not experienced this particular issue with any of the previous betas, but things seem to be working as they should now.  No data lost in the process.

  • I ran into the same issue and removing the watch from the connect app (and adding it again of course) was the only thing needed for me.

I do think I noticed the menu structure being different after the latest beta, so I guess it's something there. Some cached menu for the app not corresponding with the actual menu on the watch?

Should be handled properly of course, but at least that would be something to look into I\'d say.

  • All,

We have been able to reproduce this internally.  We have found that for some instances force closing and reopening the Garmin Connect mobile app resolves the disruption.  We understand that this does not resolve the disruption for all instances and are still working on a solution for those of you who are still experiencing this after the force closure of the mobile app.

When we have any more updates on this disruption, I will be updating this thread.  Thank you for your patience with us while we work on continuing our investigation.

  • Some users in another thread (WARNING! Don't install beta 14.12 - after update no settings change is possible in GC) have also found a possible workaround:

    1. Set your watch to English (system, language)
    2. Set your phone to English (on Android: System, languages & Input)
    3. The GC app should switch to English automatically
    4. You can now access the settings of the watch within the GC app
  • Kevin, it didn't work for me.
I set phone and watch to English and tried to open Activities on GC,didn't work even restarting phone and watch.
I switched back to Portuguese-BR in both phone and watch and now I'm able on GC open Settings and make changes in everything except Activities & Apps, just like the previous 14.08.
    BT disconnection remains.

  • I am not sure if your issue is the same as I had with 14.12, but I did this (I am on iOS) if it helps.

    1. Forget Device in BT settings

    2. Remove GC App from Phone completely

    3. Power down watch with the "hold light button in until watch powers down" method , then restart after say 20s

    4. Reinstall GC app on Phone

    5. Re- Pair the watch to the GC app

    This worked for me.

  • It didn't work for me either. I did all the steps and everything is the same.
    Thank you very much.
