Edge 1030plus + FR955

Hi Guys,
I’m hoping you can help.
I’m thinking of buying a Garmin FR955 watch to get the benefit of all the sleep, daily tracking, and other sport tracking.

My question is, I use an Edge 1030 Plus on my bike, and want to know how they work together? I would use the 1030+ on my bike but would still like to wear the watch… I guess on the watch, for most sports, I would ‘set off’ a sport, but what would I do when cycling?

Also, will the metrics from the Edge transfer across to the watch? Will it take into account the activities?

  • I invested in a 1040 hoping for recovery / suggested workouts to function in tandem, they won't, they will nearly always have different recommended workouts depending on which device you look at. A bit of a farce really.... I should of kept my 1030.

  • I have FR955 and 1030+, combined with RTL515, Tempe and speed/cadance sensors. With the FR955 i record all activities, so it adds up in training effect etc. When cycling my FR955 transfers heartrate to the 1030+, so it shows on a datascreen. The 1030+ i use merely for navigation. I do start an activity on both FR955 and 1030+, but when i get home i only save the FR955 activity and discard the 1030+ activity. The FR955 often is more accurate, shows Tempe and adds up with all other data.

It’s a pretty happy combination, but this way you don’t fully use the 1030+. My guess is that de Explorer 2 also would do just fine.
