Save and modify training suggestions

Hi,

I used Garmin Training feature on my 955 in preparations for a half marathon in October with a very good effect. I'm using it now as well for my next race but increasing find it limiting and sometimes pretty frustrating. The following features would be great to see to make use of its full potential:

  • see my suggested workouts listed on Garmin Connect, it's fine on the watch but why not on a bigger screen to improve the experience?
  • be able to save the workout to use it again in the future
  • see workout details as it was planned after you ran it
  • be able to modify the defaults (why is the warm up always 10mins?), in my case it takes about 12mins to get to the place where I do my workouts so I need to pause the watch before I get there, any not just make it "lap button press" so you workout when you're ready

I wonder what are other people's experience of using this feature. What would you like to see added next?

Thanks!

  • Some good suggestions.

Not sure Garmin will listen and implement though.

  • Hi,

I also train from daily suggestions that I find very efficient (and playful).

I also agree that adjustments are sometimes needed:

    * when your HR data is not captured correctly during your easy run and your next threshold session disappears

    * Or when the threshold session is too hard and ends up with a VO2Max benefit...

    * Or as you said, when you need to  adjust the duration of the warmup because of the topography of the terrain

To do so, my method is to create my own training by manually copying and adjusting the suggestion in GCM and schedule it in the calendar.

Then you can pick it up on the watch from the calendat widget.
