Hi All,
i'am a FR255 owner and i think about migrating to a FR955 because of the Climbing App.
However i'am not sure at all if the data recorded and calculated are accurate.
When climbing and using "Strength" with the FR255 the Exercise Load is very high and i'am pretty sure it is because the main metric used for determining the load is %MaxHR (as usual)
However in rock climbing, there is a huge discrepancy between the HR and the Load, there are several studies which reveal that even if one is climbing above 80%MaxHR, the Aerobic load is around 50% of vo2Max!
It is not clear why this happens, the reason might a mix of muscular usage (isometric contraction) which causes a increase in blood pressure and the "fear of falling".
So if i migrate from my FR255 to a 955 to get the climbing feature, how will Garmin handle the calculation?
I would appreciate more insights on that calculation from garmin and also experiences of users who climb and run both using a chest strap!
Thank you all!
