VO2 Max still flat for 6 months despite updates

I lost track for a moment. But I wonder if the calculation and display of VO2 Max should already be better? From June 2022 until now my VO2 Max is flat. That was not the case with previous Garmin devices (945, 630, etc.). That was pretty much in line with the extent to which I was in training. Towards marathons my VO2Max always increased. To then drop again when I had a quieter period. But now it's flat? I thought it was improved, but do I still need to set something?

  • Mine has been reflecting changes , although it does take time . Over that period due to my increase in volume and quality of trading mine has moved 5 units .  To see it in better detail try Runalyze and chose that it display the vo2 (from file) and there you can see it to two decimals and see if it is changing at all or if there is some issue it’s a nice analyzer also . It’s only on web .

  • Thank you. 5 units! I was used to that too. Until half a year ago I switched to the 955. So even if I could recognise a small change with Runalize, it is a huge difference compared to what it was. I know more runners experiencing this but not anymore? If the metric VO2 max is moving in decimals wicht is not visible in GC, whats the point? I loved it because don't use it much but it is trend to confirm I am on track Grinning. But now it is a number and stays the same no matter how hard I train, how much I rest, how much I recover etc.

  • Not sure if this thread is still active, but I have the same issue. VO2 Max not moving for months. I was coming back from an injury, so initially the lower reading made sense. But now back to more or less normal condition, VO2 max has still not moved and shows 2-4 units lower than what it used to be.

  • I am sorry to say. But it is still the same. For mee it now it's just a number without context because it does nothing. It is not even usable as a trend because it does not move. And yes, I am good..... but that not constantly Wink

  • Mine went from 57 in september 2022 to 61 of today.

    You have to train harder

  • Mine went from 54 to 57 in the months after I got the watch, it dropped to 55 as I took time off this winter to deal with an injury, and it’s back up to ~56.5 at the moment.

It doesn’t move quickly but if you look at it on the watch you can see a more granular view and your recent trend.

  • Thank you! Or less..... to see it drop ? Sweat smile
