garmin fr 955 2 issues: gps and morning report

hello everyone,

I have the Garmin fr 955 solar, updated with the latest version as of the date of publication of this post.

I register two problems:

1 in the morning report, there is underreported information, as you can see in the bar in the clock image.

morning report is fixed after Long power down hold the power button in until the watch turns off completely. Wait say 20 seconds then restart the watch. (updated 27-12-2022)

On the same day, I shared this update, the next morning the error reappeared as you can see in the image... (updated 28-12-2022)

2 the second problem is related to the GPS, I started the race with the GPS only green, and I have a big difference compared to the venu that did the same race, on the same day.


has anyone had a similar problem? how did you solve it?

The solution is Garmin to discard 955 firmware and make a new one from the Fenix 7 firmware.

IS the GPS set to multiband?

The multiband helps tremendously when running on streets near buildings. It uses more battery, but may be worth it in this case.

yap, I use to have a FR645... never had any issues with GPS... o prefer GPS only because of the battery...

Understood. The real world difference would only matter if you do an ultra-marathon. I had a 735xt, and the new multiband greatly improved tracks in New York City. It might vary by watch and location.

Did you do a long power down restart after doing the FW update? Sometime that helps with things and maybe it will address the Morning report issue you are having - although I don't really understand what it is. My Morning report is fine.

As regards GPS, I use the Multi Full GPS (not Sat IQ) so I cannot comment on that. To me battery life is much longer than I need for any activity I do and I am not averse to charging every three days or so and the accuracy great that way.

Do you have 3D distance and 3D altitude turned off? Some people also reported that made things less accurate.

Unfortunately, there is no solutions. You are not alone. Many people have the same problem, but nobody can tell what to do with it.

As you can see, there is no answer from Garmin.

I bought my fr955 with 11.12 FW. In that period, tracking was smooth as smoothest track. Absolutely perfect. But next FW upd crashed my gps. So since that moment I have no one normal tracking during my workouts.

You can just try some solutions as full reset, turn off/on different options, or wait and keep hope that following FW upd will fix that problem.

At the moment I think to sell my FR955 and change it to another model… it is looks like very raw product..

I bought a Fenix 7 solar and the same problem happens, just like in the FR 955!

It might be related to GPS 2.37 version. But I updated F7 to last alpha with 2.42 GPS and the problem persists!

For those who are seeing GPS issues, I highly suspect that the root cause could be HW.

To be honest, I don't experience a major GPS issue on any of the FW.

My last marathon on FW 12.23 registered a distance of 42.72 km. I think that's pretty accurate.

Note I live in a city. My setting is All + Multi.
