$450 watch and accessories for $200+ rendered more or less useless.

After updating to 13.22 the Garmin products I own have been rendered useless. With runpod connected the heart rate zones, training load, and intensitve minutes are clearly broken. The stamina is faulty.

When using HRM-pro it's the same as above but stamina being completely broken (starts at 100, ends at 100) and heart rate goes from not being measured, up to 250, down to normal, and then not being measured at all (-- on the displayfield).

It's the same whether I use music or not.

The dashed line that bugged me with earlier firmware is kind of fixed. It is now a single line.

The only accessory I own that DOESN'T break the stats is my Polar Verity sense.

So it seems the problem is between Garmins own internal communication.

I wouldn't declare this as an emergency (yet), but the thing is that this is tainting the Garmin brand more and more, and once the ball has started rollin downhill, it's just gonna keep accelerating.

  • It's so strange , I just don't have the same experience . My HRM-PRO data is still in line with what I'd expect , Stamina is working as I would expect . Heart rate as well. I also haven't been affected by the touchscreen not working item many are mentioning. I did have the dashed line issue on an earlier version but with the last two versions of FW it hasn't popped up again.  I do think the battery may be a bit worse since 13.22 but I need to look at it more closely to be sure.

Did you do a full power down (holding in the power button until the watch goes off by itself, then after a bit of a wait (say 20s) restart the watch). Some have reported that this addresses some issue that may be problematic after FW updates.

  • Yes I've done soft resets and restarts and I've removed and re-paired the accessories (as I've written in another thread). I have the battery drain bug after some activities, mainly walking, and the touch is having good and bad days.

  • I'm not seeing this with any version of the watch's firmware.

For most runs I have a no-name ANT+ HR strap, a Garmin RD pod and the Garmin Tempe. Stamina works as normal, as does HR.

This is last night's slow run on icy pavements.

  • Are you of the opinion these stats seem legit? This is from a steady pace 30 minute run normally in zone 2 and 3.

I used HRM-Pro during this run. That f-cked things up.

  • Silly question: have you checked the battery in the HRM-Pro?

  • I agree, that's a silly question. Battery's about 2 weeks old. Replaced before the upgrade and my sessions before upgrading the watch and after batteryreplacement in the HRM-Pro was correct. No dropouts of heartrate, I got intensive minutes and every other stat correctly.

  •  If you see this, I've tried my old HRM-run from my 920XT with my 955, and it's seems to be working. I've switched battery twice in the Pro-strap, but it starts out at 230bpm, goes down to about 180 and the disconnects from the watch.

The HRM-Pro reports a heartrate between 139-150bpm when sitting here typing this.

I've tried with a soaked strap and no shirt to make sure it isn't static electricity that causes the problems, but no difference.

Please point me in the right direction, I have the problems with the Pro-strap (always) and the runpod (when having anything else connected via BT). I do NOT have problems when using Polar verity sense, which points to the internal Garmin communication via ANT+ as the problem. You can see how it messes up the stats on the pics I've posted earlier.
