FR955 V13.21 Golf Problems other than broken Shot Detection

1) Golf activity does not get recorded, only a scorecard syncs to Connect. This messes up health metrics. I am unable to see how far I walked, etc.

Hope Garmin can fix this soon.

2) If  reset the watch trying to get auto-shot to work, the golf activity converts/crashes into a generic data field with timer etc and the buttons dont help. Need to completely end the activity and start it again. Auto-shot still doesn't work even after a reset. (Reset means holding light until screen blanks out)

This corrupted golf activity for me led to a failed sync of the next activity which was a Run. I had to transfer the run from a usb cable into my connect website.

3) The touchscreen on 955 gives zero benefit to golf app.

4) It would be nice to get a distance banner after each shot like on the VA3 and other touchscreen models.

If it's not showing an activity, it's because the default now on all golf devices is that activity recording is turned off. This is even the case on the S62.

To enable activity recording, highlight "Golf" in your activity list press hold the menu button. Select "Golf Settings", and turn on "Record Activity".

You have to do this by bringing up Golf Settings before starting a round. The Record Activity option isn't available once a round has been started.

Not quite sure why they turned this off by default, or even why they gave the option to turn this off.

  • As for (1) the solution is as mentioned in the response copied above...

I think the option to turn it off is a request by golf cart users. In any case they should mention it properly in the owners manual, and along with the fact that this option disappears once you're inside the Golf app.

I don't think there are any other options which disappear in this manner.

  • On V15.11

When I play Golf with activity tracking enabled, the odometer is accurate until I end the activity.

As soon as I end the activity, the total distance becomes shortend by approximately 10%

If at the time of ending my activity, the total distance was 5.3KM, then the saved activity which also appears on connect as well as the activity history on the watch will be approximately 4.8KM

My watch distance units are in Kilometers and Golf units are in yards.

  • I have made a new thread with detailed screenshots of this problem:
