13.21 Bug: Workout interval timing off by 2 seconds

Alright here is another bug, this is getting ridiculous by now :(

Since there is a crash bug on Structured Repeats on the watch, I made a 12x 30s On, 1:30 Off on Garmin Connect and transferred it to the 955.

To my astonishment after I executed the workout, all the intervals were off by 2 seconds!

To make things even worse, Strava intervals were off by 1 second, what on earth?

Please look at the attached screen shots.

  • Hi,

I did an 1’ interval on Tuesday. No issues. Did you “reset” the watch by pressing the power button until it turns off? I get used to do it after every update.

  • Thank you for the reply. No I did not "reset" the watch as I don't want to loose my HRV values. I did turn it off and on again though, is that not enough?

How would you explain that Strava is also off by a different amount? Strava is -1sec and GC is -2sec.

  • I not saying it’s not an error with your watch.
I just want to say that some minor errors can be solved by holding the power button until the watch restart.

I saw you are new with the 955.
It’s a best practice that you hold the power button until the watch restart after any software update.

You’ll not lose anything but 1% of battery doing that and you probably avoid a lot of bother issues.

  • I agree I do that as well

  • I have a similar but distinct issue, not sure if they’re related.

I ran 4x8 min intervals yesterday with 2 min recoveries. The duration of the Run intervals was correctly recorded as 8 minutes but the Moving Time column shows 7:58 for all four intervals. (The Moving Time for the recovery intervals is 2 minutes exactly.)

I jogged the warm up and went straight into the first interval and jogged the recoveries and went straight into each Run interval so I’m not sure why Connect only thinks I was moving for exactly 7:58 in each 8:00 interval.

  • Thank you and !

Could you possibly explain what holding the power button does to the watch and how it compares to shutting down (through the menu) and restart?!  I am just trying to learn :)

  • Holding down the power button until the watch turns off and then waiting a bit an turning it on seems to do a system restart so to say rather than just a power down. Sort of like restart the computer vs Shut down and restart later. Many have commented that doing this after a software update assists in addressing minor issues .

  • By the way I did a structured workout today and mine weren't 2 secs off. It was a Garmin suggested structured workout however and not one that I had made. I will try one of those during the coming week and see. To date they have been accurate.

  • Thank you so much  for both answers! Could you do a simple time based interval repeat like mine and see what you get?
