Touchscreen becomes unresponsive after few days

Since my 955 has been updated to FW 12.27 I started to notice that after some time (usually around 2 weeks), touch becomes unresponsive. When it happens, it is not possible to select any widget glance by tapping on it and also scrolling becomes more laggy.

Button-based navigation within the UI remains working even after touch-based is broken.
Restart of the watch fixes the issue for next few days.
Before 12.27 I haven't experienced this issue.

Has anyone else noticed this?

  • Noticed this today for the forst time. I’m on SW13.22
    1. Yes

    2. Yes

    3. Sweden

  • Yes/Yes/US

    Currently on FW 13.22

Have seen this issue twice. Both times was accompanied by increased battery drain. Both the touchscreen issue and battery drain did not go away until the watch was powered off and on.

  • Mine behaves exactly same with 13.22 firmware!!! With the except I need to restart the watch more frequently Disappointed

Garmin, why did you spoil something that used to work ok... why :P

  • Yes, restarting works BUT just couple of days, like ~3 or so... It's a bug to be fixed! Used to work before 13.22 in mine without any issue

  • Worse! Mine started to exhibit that touch issue WITH 13.22 update, or previous one. Was not existent before... Disappointed

  • 1. Yes

    2. Yes

    3. Poland BUT running English language on the watch.

Mine started to exhibit such annoying behavior with 13.22fw, or just the previous one. Used to work ok before!

  • I never experienced issues with the touch screen, but I do experience the elevated battery usage with 13.22 and 13.23, so these issues might not be related. I am in EU.

  • Turning the indoor pool activity on and off works for me and that helps with battery drain

  • that is interesting as i have found that the pool swim activity is central to at least one, possibly more of the issues i have been having since v13.22.

what do you mean exactly by turning it on and off - starting and stopping an activity?

  • Hi All,

Follow up & update from my side on that.

The watch started to be unresponsive (touch) last Friday morning again; basically going through morning/wake up menu was impossible by touch.

Have collected the data, made movie and sent over to Garmin on Saturday, as requested. However, this time I decided NOT to cycle on/off the watch. During Saturday, Sunday touch was still not ok, tried it few times.

Since Friday have recorded ~3 or 4 training sessions. Out of sudden, after today base run (40minutes) have decided to check scrolling by touch just to find it works completely OK!

Seems it's getting worse again, though. Seems "self curing" effect has been temporary /?/

Watch was "on" all that time since Friday, almost all the time on the wrist. Syncing via Bluetooth to android, no wire connection. No software update in that time. Currently running 13.23 btw, updated on Thursday or so.
