With the new firmware can anyone recommend the 955 over F7?

I am struggling with the weight of the F7 and general screen issues around the Solar glass.

I am a runner, hiker, golfer and go to the gym regularly. Can anyone now say with the latest firmware (as of October 2022) that the 955 is a good buy over the F7?

and here I am looking to replace my 955 with an F7X or Enduro2. For the last 5 months…

It's closer with the latest beta firmware but no, certainly not on par with the F7 or epix2 line yet at all SW wise imo...

For me the weight/size etc (and price kinda) outweighed the SW disadvantages…

Noooo big NO!

I had a Fenix 7 standard. I was happy with it! It was heavy but replacing the original strap for a nylon onne made it much lighter. I'm so sad it was stolen. So I bought a 955 standard believing…

I dont have an issue with Sapphire. What I dont like is the Solar screen. Sapphire AND solar make the screen very dark. I see no point in Solar as it’s just a gimmick. For some silly reason Garmin insist you have Solar to have the fully featured watch - makes no sense to me.

Ahh, thanks for clearing that up. I also have no interest in the solar version. So it looks like the Tactix 7 Standard is then the better choice. 7X internals with sapphire but no solar panel. This video shows the stark difference quite well https://youtu.be/gIi-Q3kHnm4?t=36

Only downside is the Tactix is much more expensive than the 7X, so I end up paying more for less

Sapphire creates reflections that make darker the screen, it's not a solar-related-issue

It's the triple whammy that makes it very dark: Sapphire, Solar, Touch Screen. I would like just Sapphire and Touch please :)

I currently have the Tactix 7 Standard which is great for readability (no stupid Solar but has Sapphire). I just find it a bit too big!
