Battery drain continues on 12.27, how about 13.15?

Hi guys,

sometimes on firmware 12.27 battery drains when I go to activity (not start it) and back to watchface. Same when I go to check/change activity settings. I usually notice quick 2-3% drop and then I turn off the watch.

Yesterday I added that CIQ battery screen/field from GC to track battery drain (during activity on GC) on the phone to some of my activities (run, walk, hike, bike & MTB), synced watch to a phone. After that mandatory phone connection off, airplane mode on and lock the buttons.

Went to bed with 50%, woke up now with 28%. Did not turn it off or restart. Usually, with Quatro watchface, I loose 5% a day with every sync off, SpO2 off and without any activity.

Is that behaviour still present on fw 13.15 for some of you?

Thanks

  • I haven't noticed that in my case - neither before 12.27 nor on 13.15.

  • Installed 13.15 with 100%, after installation it dropped to 99% and now night and 11 hours later 98%.

But I haven't have battery issues and my watch face is without seconds. Also did the 15s button press reset after update as a habit to ensure things are good.

  • I haven't experienced battery issue on 12.27 and since installing 13.15, everything is also OK so far. I have restarted the watch by holding LIGHT for 15s.

  • Only experienced this with earlier FW where it was an issue with connectiq fields not exiting even when stopping the activity (and also straps etc staying connected). Since 12.23 this is fixed though and also with 13.15 no issues here...

  • Hi, what can be a correct consumption?
my forerunner 955 solar consumes about 14/15% per day and is configured like this:
no notifications, no pulseox, yes OHR, garmin watchface with second hands, backlight off, bt smartphone off (on only to sync workouts), about 50/60' gps activity (all system, no multifrequency, no satiq) per day with and stryd heart rate monitor chest strap , field iq stryd and datarun.
I am in doubt if the consumption is correct or if my battery has problems. FW12.27
    Thanks, frank

  • Similar settings on my fr955 on fw 12.27, + a custom watchface. Consumption cca 5% per day. I make 4-5 gps activities a week (with multiband gps) and the watch holds on 10-14 days (8-10 gps activity on a single charge). My last charge was last week thuesday (10 days ago) and I am now on 41% battery.

No solar. this watchs battery time is awesome.

  • Yes, maybe it is CIQ fields related, but it happens even if an activity wasn't even started. I had it earlier much often, drain problems, but it happens even now, once in a while, after 12.23...but I can't pinpoint the culprit or the "action" which caused it.

  • No way you can get even 10 days WITH 8-10 GPS activities. Maybe 2 minute activities.Smile Even from specifications non solar, watch only (and some BT syncs) lasts 15 days if I recall correctly. Take a toll of 5% an hour with multiband activity. No way. Just checked - up to 15 days smartwatch mode. I cannot get that without synchronization and without any activity. I usually charge it between 20-80% and I calculate it would last for about 10 days (solar with just a bit of sun exposure) without activities in that range.

  • Thanks, so it might have a battery problem my device :-(

  • I have FR955 solar since 10 days.

Never gone to 0%, but it seems to me that a full charge lasts about 6 days with this settings/trainings:

    • Watch face "Clear&Powerful" from Connect IQ (had it on my previous Fenix 6, no great battery consumption from it)
    • BT always on
    • Notifications ON with vibration and 8 seconds backlight
    • Wifi off
    • HR always on
    • PulseOX always off
    • Monday/Thursday a total of 2 hours of swim
    • Tue/Fri/Sun a total of 3 hours of running with all system GPS and Polar HRM
    • Backlight on with wrist move during activity
    • DND during sleep, but everything on as in daytime

These are the same settings I had on Fenix 6 Pro Solar, which battery was capable of about 9 days for me.

Today 1h run took about 10%

Charged at 4pm, now it's 6:35pm and it's at 99%. I think that without recording activity it burns abot 8% a day
