Garmin 955 drops HRM-Pro Connectivity and loses Running Dynamics Data

I have seen other Forum comments on this with indications that recent software updates were supposed to solve it, but I am continuing to have dropout issues while connecting my 12.27 software with a HRM-Pro chest strap --- this has occurred across multiple HRM-Pro chest straps, most recently with a like new HRM-Pro Plus.

The file: connect.garmin.com/.../1

Has anyone found a solution for this following the recent software updates?

  • I have had this issue with the Fenix 6 Pro and Fenix 7 and this issue seemed to coincide with the new 8.80 update

Product Support have an open case since 9th September 2022 (

  • Oh my since Sep ?

It could be a combination of FW and HW compatibility issue. If purely a FW, every user will experience the same symptom.

You need to return the watch. If Garmin doesn't get hold of the fault, I don't think they can fix it.

Even my 3+ years HRM TRI and 955 are working fine.

As two watches both have the issue - different generstions running different firmware, then returning two watches when the issue is clearly with the HRM Pro since the 8.80 update is - with respect- a silly suggestion.

Its irrelevant your HRM Tri works, the thread is about the HRM Pro!

  • There is nothing silly about returning the watch.

Your only loss is just loss of some data.

By returning, you are sending back Garmin a watch with buggy FW or HW and hopefully they can find the root cause quickly. Like I said, there is a possibility of a HW FW compatibility issue as some users are not seeing this problem.

Otherwise, you need to wait for months for a FW fix.

  • personally, I would try a few runs in nature. This way you would eliminate interference. Besides the watch and chest strap, do you use any other electronics?
