I am primarily a cyclist and have the Edge 830. I purchased 955 the other week with objective of using it for daily wear, health tracking features, performance stats(training status, readiness, etc.), and tracking non-cycling activities (hiking, running, squash).
Both devices are synced to Garmin Connect on my phone, F955 always and E830 when it’s turned on. Both have Physio Tru-Up enabled.
Some things I’ve noticed so far that don’t seem to be working right for me. I’m not sure if a setting is not checked or something? I’m really hoping so and it’s not the case that Garmin is just putting out such a poor product. Do I have a lemon?
- Training Status: Why is there two outputs? One for my F955 and one for my E830? This doesn’t make sense. How can I be Productive and Unproductive at the same time? Shouldn’t all my activities be reconciled on Garmin Connect into one status output?
- Training Effect: Garmin compiles the activities from both devices in this menu / page so why is it not for other metrics (see above and below).
Training Readiness 1: It disappears from the ‘My Day’ page after your first activity. If you reload Connect it will show an updated score for about 2 seconds and then it disappears.
Training Readiness 2: If you don’t do an Activity, Training Readiness stays showing through the My Day page. The number displayed on the My Day page will increase through the day (assuming your taking it easy), but when you click into the Training Readiness page it shows the number from when you woke up.
- Heart Rate 1: Watch doesn’t read HR accurately. For eg, I was doing a cycle with heart rate monitor strap connected to E830 and Zwift, HR was 150bpm on both these, but F955 only show 95bpm on watch face. I then started an activity on the F955 and it started reading 150. Then I stopped that activity after 1min, and the watch continued to show the proper HR on the watch face.
- Heart Rate 2: Tried to ‘start activity’ when playing squash to get correct HR from watch. Was not close. I was +170bps for every game (4) with 90 second breaks, HR drop to about 150bps…. F955 showed max HR of 150 with average if 120. If watch HR is so far off how can trust it’s readings on anything?
- Heart Rate 3: from ‘My Day’ page. Click into the Heart Rate. Go to 7 day display. Doesn’t not show HR from E830 activities.
- Stress: When you start a activity on F955 it no longer shows Stress score and shows status as Active. If I do activity on E830 but still wearing watch it says my stress is very high. Garmin Connect should know I was Active and adjust.
- Intensity Minutes: Only activities from the F955 show. None from the E830 show.
- Calories: Shows numbers from both F955 and E830.
