Stair Count Unusually High After 12.27 Update for 955 Solar

Since the very recent installation of 12.27 on my 955 Solar my stair count has been 2 to 4 times its normal level. I normally average 15 flights per day but am now in the 35 to 65 range on basically the same routes and daily routines.

Today it told me I had 'climbed' ten flights of stairs in my first 100 yards of flat to slightly downhill running. Yesterday I went all of a quarter of a mile on level ground before it told me I had hit my daily 10 stair-flight goal.

I wondered if others are seeing this issue and if there is a fix? Thank you, Chris

  • It is the usual big problem of Garmin altimeters already present on FR945 and F6, never solved, there are people who have changed their watch but of course the problem remains.

  • No issues here in first day of my new FR955. 5 climbed, 5 recorded. And also altimeter (barometer) is waaaay more accurate than my previous Fenix 6

  • Thank you both for your thoughts. I found the watch is stair count challenged on cooler mornings particularly when I'm running before the sun rises. I have this suspicion that the change from our warm house to the outdoors with little transition time makes it tough on the barometer. It is a relatively new development (and certainly a minor one) and will hopefully be resolved in the next system software load. Thank you again.
