Forerunner 955 race predictor way off

I got the watch 2 wks ago, 955 solar. The race predictor says my half marathon time is 1:25. I knew it was quite off and didn't care too much about it. I thought it could be improved with more running or racing. I ran a half marathon race over the weekend with 1:18, though the course is a bit shorter than HM distance. The race predictor pretty much remains no change at 1:25. No change of VO2 max either. I have the latest version of software installed, 12.27. According to previous posts, this version of software was supposed to solve the race prediction issue. Apparently it still does not work on my watch.

  • After 12.27 my race predictions  seems fairly accurate and interestingly enough are also very much in line with that in the RunAlyze predictions. On the VO2 the movements seem to be much smaller now and as there are no decimals one doesn't notice movements. I notice on the data from the .fit files imported into Runalyze that there are subtle movements all the time in the first and second decimals. Mine just popped up one whole digit today after being the same for quite a while. In my data dump to Garmin on this issue I did also suggest that show soem decimals as the movements are very small daily.

  • I've posted a lot about this.  It's pure ***.  Some poster once tried to tell me it doesn't work for someone of my level lol.

My times are somewhat in the range of yours as are the off predictions.  The marathon is the most egregious as it's giving me 2:55 whereas I ran a 2:40 marathon with it.  When it comes the half (mine is also 1:24 or so) but I have run probably 10 half marathon (at MP) or half races in the 1:15-1:20 range. But no significant improvement in the predictor.

Somewhere there's a bug that's blocking it all from updating.  I've recently sent my data to garmin.  I hope they can fix it.

(the v02 is also egregious - like it's been the same at 64, despite me updating the weight - that alone mathematically has to change my vo2 max. It's literally part of the formula).

  • before 955, I had 255 and experienced similar poor prediction. I also had 245 before 255/955. The VO2 max and pace prediction was much better. The number also responded well to the progress of training. Not sure what was changed on 255/955.

  • Same for me, by roughly the same error. I ran a sub 37:00 10k and it still puts me around 39:00 with the race prediction. Firmware 12.27.

  • For me it was nearly perfect with my last half marathon, prediction 1.28.42, done in 1.29.46.

On previous Feniv 6 it was horrible
