When recording a Pool Swim in a 25 yard pool using open turns, my FR 955 regularly misses that I've made a turn, and merges the strokes and time of 2 or more lengths into what it thinks is a single length.
Here's an example from my most recent pool workout:
- The first interval is 10 laps with a pull buoy. Everything is accounted for correctly.
- The second interval is 10 laps with pool fins. This makes me slightly faster, and use fewer strokes. Garmin thinks I swam 10 lengths, instead of the 20 I swam. At it's worst, the 955 combines 7 lengths into 1.
- Next is 11 crawl stroke laps. The 955 combines my 2nd, 3rd, and 4th lengths into 1, but is correct from there on out.
- I finish with 9 crawl stroke laps. The 955 loses one of my lengths, believing I ended up on the other end of the pool.
- Forerunner 955, Software 12.27
- Pools Size Setting: 25 yards (https://www.seattleymca.org/membership/benefits/pools-aquatics-programs)
- Stroke Detection: Happens whether this is on or off
- Auto Rest: On
Overall, it missed 13 of the 80 lengths I swam. This is pretty standard for my pool workouts. The watch stays recording the whole time. All of my strokes and time in the water are accounted for. It's just the laps, and thus my pace, are screwed up. Anyone know what's going on?
I believe this is different than the problem described in "Problems with pool count with the new Forerunner 955". That one seems to involve the watch getting into a bad state where it's not recording progress until the user takes some action, like restarting the watch.
