Cannot connect watch to Garmin express

No matter what I do I cannot get my watch to connect with garmin express. I have updates GE, I have latest 955 firmware, i have rebooted the computer, I have tried different garmin cables (the old cable from my 935)- nothing works. I can update the device via my phone in the app through garmin connect....but that's not the point. Any ideas?

are you on a Mac? if so, is Android File Transfer running? if that is the case, you need to quit that app in order for Garmin Express to work.

Garmin express works and loads just fine. Edge 1040 connects just fine, just not the 955

Just a thought , what if you toggle the USB Mode setting on the watch , no idea if it will do anything but it might reset something

Menu > Settings >System> USB Mode

Have you also done a Long press power down on the watch (hold in top left button until the watch powers off completely) then restart it

Garmin express detects device but can not add it. This what I get

Is this solved?

I have the same issue. Tried: restarting gaming and pc. Mac and Window. Multiple usb ports/cables. Restoring default settings. Nothing helps.

Have you tried uninstalling it and then doing a fresh install? I've had to do this recently for both someone else's Vivoactive 4S which would just freeze GC, and my 955 which wouldn't install updates (albeit both Macbook Airs, not Windows). The installation seems to get corrupted over time.
