Forerunner 955 gives too less calories for the training session

Hello, i have always been training with the polar vantage v2, but have now the forerunner 955. In all activities, the calories are less than with the polar (not just 50 kcal, but 300 til 600 kcal). I thinkt that the forerunner is wrong here. Does anyone have similar problems?

  • Comparing bike power meter estimates and running calculator estimates (based on body weight, pace and distance) with my fr255 the kcals are fine.

    Can you share some stats?

  • For example a 3 hour, quiet intensive mountainbike ride with 1300 alimeter and an average heart rate of 158 bph .

    I am 1,62 and 52 kg.

Polar is saying 1800 kcal, but the forerunner is saying 1200 kcal.

  • For cycling I would try to get a power metered session parallel to the garmin activity. Did this once and the garmin estimate was very close to the 1 kJ mech = 1 kcal eexp rule.

Not sure if it matters, but I do also quite some running with my fr. This might help with calibrating estimates, as the watch is getting running stats in correlation to heart rate. My old sigma hr only non gps watch always gaves much to high kcals, regardless of the activity.

  • okay, thank you ... I will try it!
