Airpods Pro 2nd Gen with 955

Hi all,

Just got the Airpods Pro 2nd generation, paired and the music will play fine and then one airpod will go out while the other is still playing. When I single click the right airpod to Pause the music, I can see the music pause on the watch, when I resume the music the audio completely stops but the music continues on the watch and I can continue to Pause and Play the music with no sound.

I've tried repairing the Airpods, made sure the 1st pair i had on the watch were removed, firmware appears to be updated on all devices...

The 1st generation of Airpods worked fine and I had no issue with them, anyone else experiencing this?

  • Hi Kevin,

just saw there will be an update for the epix/f7 watches, any idea when we will see the same for our FR?

  • Hello .  Unfortunately, I have not received the necessary information from anyone so that I can submit an investigation.  The software for the fenix 7 series and Epix Gen 2 is different than on the Forerunner series watches, so I do not see this update affecting any Forerunner watches.

    All,

If you have not yet done so, please respond to my questions on page 1 so that I can request the necessary information from you for an investigation.  Only after I receive the necessary information from at least one of you will I be able to submit an investigation for this report.

  • I faced same issue with FR 955 Solar and Airpods Pro 2nd Gen.

    Answers for question;

    1. Yes

    2. Yes

    3. Turkey

  • But it seems to be the same issue after having browsed around on the Fenix/epix forum? Especially having had a look at the release notes..

  • I have been experiencing this as well, and received this reply from a product support representative:

Thank you for this email! There is a known issue that is explored in this FAQ (Audio Issues When Using Apple AirPods With a Garmin Music Watch). In large part, it is mainly how the Airpods are designed with both having the ability to be a receiver.  Headphones that have a clear receiver point (ex. Shokz) are best to use to prevent any dropout issues.
    Thank you for choosing Garmin,

My theory is that it is related to the adaptive transparency feature in Airpods Pro 2, which reduces loud sounds in real-time that are occurring in your environment. It seems to happen for me in particular when cars approach and pass me, although inconsistently.

  • Hi  i own a 955 and have same problem reported here with 2nd gen airpods except it only occurs when my Hrm-run strap is connected. First song plays ok but audio stops at the begining of the next track most times. When i disconnect and reconnect airpods, audio starts again bit then stops when the track changes. This is during an activity. I haven’t yet tested what happens while no activity is on.

Sometimes after disconnecting and reconnecting it works ok. Any idea what to do ?

  • Are you using Spotify as a Music Provider with Shuffle turned on?

  • Hi kevin

no i am using my own music uploaded via garmin express. But shuffle is indeed turned on

Weird. I just went for a 1h run and music was running fine. Actually I was playing music on the FR955 with my AirPods Pro 2 almost the whole day while working before going for a run. No audio stops recognized the whole day.

The only thing I changed, was toggling the shuffle mode last night, because it was mentioned in the post before.

Anyways, the play/pause bug is still present. When pausing the music either via AirPods or watch and then playing it again, the music won't be playing. Only reconnecting the Airpods will fix this

EDIT: Just seeing that Apple has brought out a new firmware for the AirPods (5B58) two days ago. Maybe this helped fixing this issue
