How to record breadcrumbs while following a course

I have a course for a hike plotted in Explore, but part of the course is a general guess of where the trail is. Can I record the breadcrumbs of the activity then save that as a course for when I want to go on that hike again.

Yes.

Initiate an activity but don't start it just yet. Hold the up button and select Navigation from the menu. Select Activities from that menu. Select the activity you want to repeat from the list.

If you record an activity you can then save the route as a course for the future.

If you open the activity in the Connect Web interface and click the "settings" wheel there is an option there to "save as course".

There may be a way to do the same on the GC App , I haven't tried it that way

So the activity in my activity history will show the actual route I took, and not just the pre-plotted course I followed?

The activity will record the actual route you take yes. How long is the hike?

Pretty short, about 1.5 miles one way.

It should handle that with no issues then . Generally I am keeping my GPS settings on full Multi-band of the sake of accuracy.

I have mine set to auto select, but I’ll probably end up switching it to full MB for it

That didn't seem to make any significant difference to battery for me so I decided to keep on MB.
