When does Daily Suggestions update?

Hi all,

Relatively new Garmin user. Loving my 955, and Daily Suggestions.

Does anyone know when the Daily Suggestions weekly plan updates? I know that after a run, it will sometimes readjust based on your performance. But it's unclear if this readjustment happens in "real-time" immediately following a workout or other event, or if it happens once a day at a certain time, or something else? I would guess the first, but I'm not sure.

Anyone know?

Jesse

  • Jesse, you bought a watch and an algorithm, not a coach that ajusts your plan daily (most coaches even send weekly plans). So, to answer your question, you are gonna see readjustments when:

    1. VO2max changes (increase/ decrease), regardless if you are doing races or not (mine changes with usual training)

    2. If you do a way more taxing session in terms of EPOC, you are gonna see a Rest day tomorrow (instead of the original suggestion)

    3. You add a specific race and distance in your Race calendar (for the time being, only running is fully supported). At that moment in time, it creates a plan with tapering and the whole shebang

However, if DSW suggests a 1:30 long run paced at 5:30/ km and you do a 1:45 long run paced 5:40 / km (take it with a grain of salt, just an example), I do not think the watch will not magically readjust the 2nd day tempo session.

  • Alex, as usual, great and helpful answer. I am noticing that my DSW do seem to adjust quite frequently post workout. Must be the combination you're talking about, i.e VO2 max and EPOC. Not a problem at all. My question was more born out of curiosity to understand. I'm general it is so adaptive, that it does seem less like a watch, and more like a coach! Anyhow, thank you again!
