Can't start a structured workout, only get option to cancel workout

This morning when I got to the track to start a structured workout on my calendar for today, I had no options to start it, very weird. I use this feature hundreds of times with a few different 9x5 watches, somehow it failed on this 955 with 12.23. Anyone else seen this before?

Here's a video of it: www.dropbox.com/.../IMG_2822 720p.mov

12.23 is such a bad release, we get random horizontal lines, battery drain, and now I can't start the workout on my calendar, this is probably the most useful feature that my other watch doesn't have (without using a 3rd party app).

  • I tried this my side and it works perfectly. I am running 12.25 though. I haven't had an issue since getting this watch in starting a workout that I placed in calendar, through all the various FW releases.

If you go to the activity , doesnt Do Workout come up immediately as one of the options without having to use the up button as you did? In my case it shows as an option on selecting the activity.

I did try it this way and the way you show it using the up button and selecting from calendar and both ways functioned perfectly.

I tried Track and also Run to make sure

  • It did show up when I started my first activity, but I skipped it because that was my warm-up run to the track from home.

I've used the workout calendar this way with this watch and 12.23 before, most recently for last Friday's workout. But now I just can't start the workout in any activity (run, track run, etc), very weird.

I'm gonna go up to 12.25 despite the issues in that release, if at least this works in it. Last week 2 of my runs wouldn't sync and manually uploading the files to Garmin website failed as well, I had to just manually upload to Strava directly and they worked. So many weird issues with 12.23. The 955 was rock solid with its original firmware, as soon as I get a version that has no issues I'm going to turn off autoupdate right away.

  • Is there maybe not something strange with the workout itself? what if you delete it from the calendar and add a clean new one as a test?

I suppose you did try a LONG press on the power button to turn off and then power on as a step as well.

Yeah we are having a "fun" ride for sure on the software side.

12.25 has been a bit better on some issues but. along way still to go...

  • Good idea, ya, I just removed it from my calendar in GC iOS app, re-added the same workout to today, now I see the Do workout option again, so hopefully a one-time thing, but now I'm gonna have to check to see if i can start the workout every time before heading out to make sure, very annoying.

  • Cool glad that helped...Yes sometimes these small things are mega irritating.

I recall with some fondness running in the late 1970's with a Mapbook , piece of string and a ruler to measure my runs , leaving the analog watch at home and just looking at the time I left and got home.
