Sleep Tracking Algorithm Issue

I understand that averaging a stress score <15 is recommended during sleep, but should I lose that many points off my sleep score when I achieved EXCELLENT in every single category except stress? Averaging 25 shouldn't cost me that much. Does anyone else experience this?

  • I have mostly similar results in the individual evaluation criteria - all great except for the stress. Nevertheless, I then easily get a score of >80.

Can it be related to the HRV status?

I have records where a stress of 24 is considered "Excellent", and others where 19 is considered "Sufficient / Adequate" (don't know how the translation is in English).

    • My overnight HRV was balanced like my daily HRV, so that's what's confusing.. It seems like they put a little too much emphasis on stress in their algorithm to calculate sleep score, which then affects all of my other data. I also have records like yours. It also seems inconsistent because sometimes a score of 25 is fair and sometimes it's poor. I've searched everywhere for a detailed view of how much weight Garmin places on each category in their sleep tracking to determine a score, but can't find it anywhere.
  • What's your baseline HRV and sleeping HR like?

I think the stress number is just an gauge. The sleep score is base on HRV. Can read more here.
