Forerunner 955 Blue Triangle during Ultra

Hi,

I was wearing my 955 during a long Ultra (330Km 24,000M climb - Tor des Geants). It took me 103hrs to complete but about half way the watch locked up with a blue triangle. I was unable to reset it in any way. Having access to the time of day / Distance covered / current altitude are so important even phycologically I was devistated. Every little thing at that distance has a big impact.

My immediate thought is that the tracklog gets to a point where it is too big and just shuts the watch down (I was using navigation at the time also). I was wondering if anyone else has experienced this also as I don't want to wear a watch that has an issue with long ultras?

I have logged a ticket 3 days ago and suspect they will replace the watch but would love to know that most people have no issue wearing this watch over 24hrs+? Is it suitable for long Ultras?

Thanks
Billy

  • First of all, congrats on this major achievement!

I'm afraid there won't be too many (if any) here doing this kind of ultras even though i think i read such a report before (watch crashing during a very long ultra)

Only done a 9 hr one myself and luckily that worked fine.
