Off Course Navigation Alert Setting "OFF" Ignored During Navigation

The watch gives constant "off course" / "on course" alerts throughout my time navigating a course. Nothing changes when I turn the feature off, per instructions here:

The alerts are often occurring every few seconds, rendering the alert feature useless, and discouraging me from ever using navigation at all.

Sometimes, the GPS "believes" it is offroad because of a GPS signal loss/degradation (trees, buildings...).

Maybe check "Map Settings>Lock on road"

Of course, it works only if your course follows a road/path existing on the map.
