Added an upcoming half marathon as a race on my Calendar but Garmin Connect (web) will not allow me to link a course to it, nor will the watch populate the race day widget. The race calendar also shows "No Race".

The course, is it one that you created? Make sure the course is "Public" otherwise you can not add it. If you created in Strava you cannot turn it public in Garmin. You need to duplicate the course in Garmin (give it a different name) and then make that Public...excuse the long winded explanation but I had a similar issue and that was my work around.
It took a little time for it to sync and be on the race widget.
I found the correct half marathon course on the course map. I created a copy and renamed it with the year and race (2022 CarMax Half Marathon) I made sure it was public and saved the copied route. I exited it and returned to the course under "Created by You". After selecting and clicking "Add to event". The add to event screen populates and under the drag down, there are no events listed.
Is this because I created a race from a known event. I checked the event on my calendar and it clearly shows it as a race and the event type "running". I also made sure to update this by "sending to device". The event is populated on my phone app now, but cannot find it on my watch (currently synced).
May be . I originally had mine linked to the event it found...but then I deleted that and I created my own event (rather than have it linked to something outside my control I guess). Maybe that is the way to address this. Delete what you have in the calendar . I went to the date in Calander and then clicked and chose "Create and Event" and populated it from there . You should be able to select course in the dropdown there and then your saved courses should appear (if they are public I believe).. It's a work around but maybe it works for you. I hope it does.
I preferred the idea of not having it linked to something else that may get changed. For some reason the one race I created that way was deleted somehow ...
Ok , I decided to try and set up a second race on mine. My primary race is on Sunday coming and I set up my next race in Mid November. I made the course form last time I did this race and saved it and made it public. Went to calendar and clicked on the date, chose event , create event and then tabulated the fields and in t drop down selected the course I had asked. Saved this , it then asked if I wanted to set a Goal which I did and saved. I synced the watch and then in the race Calander Widget it shows I have two races. The race widget shows the upcoming race . Hope that helps
I followed your suggestion. I deleted the event and created my own from the calendar. I linked it to a course I created, set up some goals, and it did appear on my watch as a new event. It included the course and estimated times. I believe this was the fix and the race widget will populate soon.
