It is a nuisance, and it messes with the recovery data. I have started removing the watch if I am going to sit for any length of time, which also messes up recovery data and training readiness. I have had the watch record sleep when I have been eating my lunch, watching TV and using a computer. Sometimes correcting on GC works with the watch accepting the GC input, but often the watch and GC end up with different data.
The manual for the 955 explicitly states that naps will not be recorded, so I struggle to see why eating at lunch time could ever be measured as sleep. I have set the sleep period between 23:00 to 08:00, I move when I eat so this seems odd to me.
I must say I haven't noticed that on mine at all. Where do you see that, just on GC App under Sleep? Mine only shows what in my view ties in to my sleeping at night time. I have taken naps during the day and don't notice anything at all in that regard. It seems to start before and end before / after my "noted" sleep times depending on actual events.
same problem here (btw: also still on FW 11.12)
Had taken a screenshot of sleep and sleep score iOS app screen and if I select these days now (two days later), no (0) sleep score and only the day nap is shown for these days. So I'm confident it is not me mixing things up, but the data has changed afterwards without me doing anything.
So interesting how these things are in some cases almost random . I've looked at mine after reading your comment and went back over the last 3 weeks and each day appears and the information looks sound. I'm on 12.23, the 12,20 beta before that. IOS APP
As a person who takes late afternoon siestas a few days a week, I like that the watch now tracks naps as it shows my Body Battery charging and I can let my 955 Solar keep track of how often I'm enjoying this small pleasure. But it seems that Garmin needs to adjust their Sleep Score parameters to exclude the naps or to have the score reflect the shorter time period. Good by Garmin for moving this forward!
