Forerunner 955 occasionally went to black screen and not responsive

I am having this issue, how did you manage to restart the watch ?

After few tries, the hard restart while connected to the PC worked.

Yes, it seems to the way to activate it. Also i found that if you just leave it in a cool place the watch will come active again. I heavily suspect it is due to the temperature. 

It worked couples times, but now I can’t get it to restart. I will try to call Garmin to get a replacement. And, I doubt it is a temperature problem.

I think this is a good reason to return back the watch.

So far I have not seen this problem on FW 11.12.

Hopefully your replacement watch is on the old FW. Don't upgrade yet!

Yes, i'm super frustrated and have arranged a return.
