Today in a climb with arrival at an altitude of 2750 meters (Passo dello Stelvio), the 955 (software 12.23) scored only 2330 meters. That is really that 420 meters of error. Hope the Garmin developers read this post.
Hi, I wasn't much active for a while, but today went for a MTB ride, first with fw. 12.27, the altitude of over 1000m shown 630m as max altitude. Even Polar Grit X with faulty barometer has shown correct altitude 1030m (within 10 meters).
I calibrated it now, DEM method has shown some really...way off altitude...GPS method....100m less than my current altitude (cca. 260m vs 160m after auto calibration).
Before calibration it was showing -186m (minus 186 meters). This is the first time I had this problem. I hope barometer is not busted. Clean as whistle, even on the day of the activity I rinse it under the water (couple of hours before). I will see in two days where I know exact altitude what it will show...and if I need to calibrate it again...or send it for a repair. Also...I don't want to reset it because to set it up is a pain in the....especially acitivities and screens - much better executed in Polar Flow on computer than what Garmin has.
Coming from a Fenix6 I can say that the altimeter of FR955 is absolutely amazing. In an hiking near Stelvio went from 1861 to 2247m and watch recorded 2250m! Every morning I wake up at 214m and go to work to 120m, it's absolutely perfect where the Fenix6 gave every morning different values
