Heart rate zones are still getting overwritten on 12.23 build

Heart rate zones are still getting overwritten on 12.23.

The last comments are still valid for 12.23 from the closed thread:

----------------

The bug wasn't resolved during beta-testing, and moreover, there wasn't ANY response from the support/dev team in that bug-thread whatsoever.

could you, or anyone from your team, finally pay attention to this bug?

Everything that was discussed in this thread is still valid, please check this finally out.

If you need any permissions to use my data for troubleshooting - take it, but fix this damn bug!

also thought that this was resolved but appears it isn't.

What seems to work:

  • My custom zones under the default profile are staying as I have set them.
  • Some workouts conducted recently appear to be correct in Training Effect identification. For example I ran 5x4k at threshold intensity the other week (big workout) and scored a 5.0 for Aerobic and 2.0 for Anaerobic. 64% of the WO conducted in zone 4 and 18% in zone 5 or on the boundary between 4 and 5.

on the other hand:

  • Yesterday I ran an easy 21k 99% at the high end of zone ONE and received a score of 4.8 for Aerobic training effect. The details say "way to go! You spent a significant amount of time ABOVE your lactate threshold during this difficult activity.."
  • Garmin's explainer suggests this run should be a 2.0 - 3.0 for TE Training Effect Samples | Garmin Technology
  • today I noticed that Garmin had re-created a RUNNING profile with the default (incorrect HR zones).
  • Interestingly for the activity referenced above, it showed the correct zone according to my settings both during the run and after, yet the training effect is completely wrong and must be going off something else (maybe the zones set in the running profile it decided to add)

I suspect that the runs conducted before the watch re-created a running profile are correct, and those after are not. I have deleted the running profile as before... guess I just have to check before each run?!

This continues to be quite annoying and and impacts the recovery time/training readiness features to the point that they are not very helpful.

  • Once again today, the same issue, the same reset from BPM to %Max HR.

    Nothing changes, nothing resolved

  • This isn’t just on the 955. It’s the same on my Epix latest software 9.33. Did another base run this morning zone 2 that my watch suggested, and yet again getting logged as high aerobic and tempo when I didn’t even use another heart rate zone and my pace and HR were well within suggested base parameters. By logging tempo it means the watch thinks I need more recovery and says I have a low aerobic shortage when most of my runs are base and low aerobic etc so frustrating.

  • Something new. See pt.2. - because switch from BPM to %HR Max is not worth to mention ;). It's just only GARMIN

    1. General zones stay at mine ranges, until I've kept them as %HR Max. After switching them into BPM they reset to basic values, i.e. 50, 60, 70 ect.. %of HR Max. Switching back to BPM shows default, GARMIN values and I couldn't get back mine ranges

    2. Similar operation for sport zones (Running and Swimming) DOESN"T CHANGE MINE RANGES. I switch between %HR MAX and BPM several times and mine zones are still have been present.

    We'll see tomorrow...

  •

I created HR Zones that would fit better to my fitness condition...

The Forerunner 255 outputs the values i have set over the zones using the new update...(my max heartrate is 179 bpm):

instead of 50% it's nearly 52% but I can live with that

The Forerunner 955 created following values:

instead of the setting of 50% it uses 64% and that is to much for sure...(seems ist uses %HRmax calculated by Garmin)

  • constantly experiencing this issue, Garmin, when will this be fixed?

  • Garmin seems clueless on how to fix this elementary issue.

This is considered a critical bug which should have a priority fix.

  • Garmin, when is it going to be fixed?

  • Can Garmin let me know this isn’t going to get fix? My coach trains me based on specific HR zones and my workouts are based on those zones (eg, 2:30 Z2 and :30 Z3). I can return my 955 to REI and switch back to my 945. All I need to know from Garmin is if they plan to fix it, given it’s been a problem for months.
