I find the visual and functional differences between all the Garmin devices so frustrating - especially for the same features. There appears to be massive wasted resources on duplication of development - I presume the current generation devices (255, 955, Fenix 7 etc) are all using the same processor, base line hardware and I am aware of the need to differentiate features between them but when it comes to the weather widget, watch faces, workout summary screens etc - there is no need to for all this....

I see it exactly the same way. Serious runners/athletes are being forced to buy a fenix. This deliberate degradation of user interface and features sucks! But there are athletes who don't want a clunky watch on their arm because they want to wear it overnight, for example. What about them?

Exactly. I don't want a heavy watch and that's why I opted for the fourrunner line and bought 955. I don't keep the development of the fourrunner line because really the hardware must be the same.
