Forerunner 955 cycling ability glance?

The Forerunner 955 owners manual describes a "cycling ability" glance:

https://www8.garmin.com/manuals/webhelp/GUID-9D99A9D4-467A-4F1A-A0EA-023184FEA3DD/EN-US/GUID-BF6B3658-DD2A-444B-9B13-0F1030E54803.html

For the life of me I can't find it or figure out how to add it.

Has anyone succeeded? Is it a mistake in the manual, meant for some other product (Edge)? Is it a yet-to-be-released feature for the 955?

  • For me you can add the glance by pressing the add button and I am certain that it was added in 12.20 beta because It was not there when I've got the watch. It requires power meter and heart rate sensor for a week to give you a reading.

  • You are right! I installed 12.20 and lo and behold, cycling ability glance was now an option. Definitely not there before.

I'd be interested to know more about how Garmin categorizes cyclists -- I was pretty surprised to see I'm a "climber" because I am not that light (77kg) and my FTP is not exceptional. Also, I hate hills ...

In any event I'll be reverting to 11.12 because I've found some other significant problems with 12.20
