Custom maps still don't work. The new map is visible in the general settings, but in the activity settings, after pressing configure map, the watch freezes.I upload the map via basecamp. The watch itself…
Eh. I am ashamed to admit it. The maps in the form of an img file started working (although not all) after I changed the file name. The default name gmapsupp was invisible to the watch.
However, this does…

Maybe this is the way for garmin to restrict using other maps than original?
I've been using custom map happily the whole time so I would say that it's not problem with custom maps in general, it seems more to limited to OSM maps.
There are translations (in my case to German) missing in several widgets. It also changed my race predictions slightly (for the worse)
Here is the map issue video I mentioned.
That is really strange, I am using custom maps on 955 without any problem. Can you share your .img file which is failing on your side?
And maybe better to create different thread, as it is different topic than the thread name (Beta 12.20 available)
I use these OSM maps (optimized for the Fenix/Forerunner displays) by copying the IMG file directly to the watch, without Basecamp. They work perfectly on my 955, even already with software 11.12. Unfortunately there are mainly maps for Germany, but also some other parts of the world.
I downloaded IMG file, copied into Garmin folder and I agree, I cannot see the map in MAP manager. I would contact the map maintainer...
Or, you can use maps from different source. I am using https://www.garmin.vasam.cz/about-maps/ and https://garmin.v0174.net/?j=en, no problem at 955 so far.

However, this does not change the fact that the problem persists with basecamp.
