Accessing watch face from activity causes issues.

Garmin FR 955

I have found that the only way to access the watch face and widgets during an activity is to add a hot Key.

However when I use the hot key, the GPS drops out as well as strap heart rate and possibly other issues I haven't noticed yet.

Hot keys used to access any other function do do cause an issue.

The watch face I'm using is a stock face.

Has anyone else encountered this problem ? Any workarounds ?

No workarounds afaik... But what is the actual reason for needing to access the watchface? (As opposed to simply adding the time as a datafield?)

As you have mentioned, to see the time is simple, but I would like to sometimes access the widgets. Some widget data can not be added to an activity screen and most of the time I wouldn't need it anyway, so don't want to add many screens.

The question is, if this is actually a bug or an annoying feature... Does anybody know about any different Garmin model, which keeps GPS running while switching to watch face during activity?
