Privacy and accessing notifications question

I did a bit of searching on here and haven't seen this asked yet. I have the privacy setting on and I noticed that there is no "gesture + start button" option to view the notifications.

I enjoy having gesture as the way to access notifications while in privacy mode, however, it's not always reliable. When I try to access the notification with the start button (or any other way), it doesn't work and the notification disappears, leaving me to either dig for it or not see it until I'm able to access my phone.

I had a forerunner 245 before this and could set an option so that I could access notifications by using gesture or start button. Is that possible with the 955? Am I just missing something?

    and , when I go to the Privacy setting, I am able to choose either one.

    Menu > Connectivity > Phone > Notifications > General Use > Privacy

    When I tested this with "START button" selected, it worked as expected, though I did not see any indicator instructing me to press the START button to view.  I just had to know that was my setting and the way to view the content of the notification.

    However, when "Gesture" was selected, I was unable to see anything but the phone number that sent the text

    Is this your experience as well?  If not, please provide some other details better explaining your situation so that I (and maybe others too) may test further.

    I had some other associates test this as well and their devices are all working as expected, so at least we know it is not an situation that is affecting all devices.

    Thanks for the response! The device is functioning as designed - I was suggesting an additional feature, which was included on my previous forerunner 245, to have a "gesture + start button" option rather than having to choose either "gesture" or "start button" for the privacy setting. Having the option of either using gesture OR start was really nice on my 245 and I'd love to see that brought to the 955. Let me know if this clarifies my initial post.
