Garmin native power - is there a way to disable the native power & just be using Stryd power?

- is there a way to disable the native power & just be using Stryd power?

  • I have given up with Stryd and now use Garmin native power. Stryd have become greedy, best part of €300 for a pod that is not even waterproof!

  • I’m also using Stryds workout app, and the power in Stryd is that from the pod, as I thought they were able to filter out the native power? I run with a HRM Pro chest strap as well, and the only place I see Garmin native power is in Strava.

  • In connect you will see both power recordings. Those get passed on to third party sites as well. The Stryd app does use the correct power, so if you are only using power center there is no issue.

  • True, but I just ignore that native data values even though they are there.

  • The issue comes when passing it on to other sites (Strava, TrainingPeaks) if that’s where you are looking to aggregate your data.

  • I noticed that we never get a response from a Garmin rep in threads related to power, so I'm officially asking to please give us a response for this.

I do not want to use on wrist power. Ever. Not in Garmin activities, not in Connect IQ activities. The very least you could do is allow developers to give an option for turning it off in IQ apps.

  • Bring up a Run activity on the watch and hold down the middle left button. Select Activity Settings > Running Power > Source. You can adjust where the power comes from. You will see the option for Smart Mode, Accessory Only, or Wrist Only. If you select Accessory Only, wrist-based power should not be used. If you have already changed this setting and have not found what you are requesting, we'll need more specific details on what you are looking for.

  • I have done this for everything that is a native Garmin app. You cannot do this for a Connect IQ app.

I use the Stryd Workout app for a power based training program. When using the Stryd Workout app, both the Stryd footpod and the Garmin watch record power at the same time, which results in conflicting data.

According to the Stryd app developers, the Connect IQ API does not allow to turn off wrist based power.

  • Correct.

Garmin-Sierra - Here is an example from yesterday https://connect.garmin.com/modern/activity/11372126697.  I have disabled Running Power from the Activity completely, but when using the Stryd Workout App which uses the Run profile, it still records Running power.

  • I can confirm what  says. I use the exact same setup for my runs, I use Stryd Workout app and have the same problem. This is a well known problem in the Stryd community and Stryd developers says that their hands are tied until you (Garmin) change this.
