Suggested workout target pace no longer matches target heart rate

The suggested workouts on my FR955 have been working very well for me for the past 3 months, however:

As I have become fitter, my running pace has increased considerably for the suggested heart rates, but if I switch to pace target, the suggested paces haven't progressed with this apparent new ability.

Also, the workout predicted training effect is significantly lower than the actual training effect when targeting heart rate.

My guesses as to what might be going on are:

  • My auto-detected maximum heart rate is slightly high (174 vs. 170-173 actual), thus making my target heart rates too high
  • I need to perform a lactate threshold test to recalibrate my pace/HR relationship - if this is the case, then why isn't this routinely part of workout suggestions?
  • I am suffering from chronic fatigue resulting in some sort of HR paradox (I don't think so)

Does anybody have any idea how I can resolve this incongruence, please?

Cheers,

Simon
