955 won't re-pair with Garmin Connect iPhone

My FR 955 was working well until recently it kept loosing connection to iPhone and thus Garmin Connect

I have done "Forget device" on IOS Bluetooth settings

Tried to reconnect and no go this time.

Removed device from GC.

Been trying to re-pair the watch to iPhone / GC with no success.

Done all the normal stuff. Delete GC app and reinstall.

Reset Network settings on iOS

Restarted FR 955 and iPhone

I do not want to reset the FR955 or all the non activity data will be lost and thats weeks of HRV etc build up.

Suggestions?

  • Sorry to hear all your BT issues.

I have 4x different Garmin devices and a 2x Pixel phones for the past 3 years.

Not a single BT connection issue. Maybe I am just lucky.

  • I don’t know how you use your watch.

Bt is turned on on my watch all the time and it should be connected to my phone all the time.

My phone is not always in reach (it is not in my sleeping room and I don’t take my phone with me on shorter runs)

I expect my watch will reconnect automatically when it is in range of my phone. But it doesn’t. Or not completely.

Maybe I just ask to much (although I have plenty other bt devices that works as expected)

Yes my phone and watch reconnect flawlessly for the past 3 years of usage.

The only thing that I have in common is I am using Pixel phones for all the 3 years using different Garmin watches.

I believe it is related to specific phones and app permission.

  • Might be. As I said, the guy who runs the 5k runner blog switched from Android to iPhone because of bluetooth problems. He didn’t say which android phone.

I didn’t had these kind of problems with my previous watch, a suunto. But that was many moons ago.

No reason for me to spend any money on any new gadget for. But there are more people complaining, so there must be an issue for some at least.

And yes, it’s difficult to say if the ones with problems are trolling or not and the ones without problems are fanboys who deny everything.
Not pointing fingers or accusing anybody. I highly appreciate your comments.

  • Hi, I had the same issues. The solution for me was to go to iPhone Bluetooth settings, select my FR 955 and forget the device.
