955 won't re-pair with Garmin Connect iPhone

My FR 955 was working well until recently it kept loosing connection to iPhone and thus Garmin Connect

I have done "Forget device" on IOS Bluetooth settings

Tried to reconnect and no go this time.

Removed device from GC.

Been trying to re-pair the watch to iPhone / GC with no success.

Done all the normal stuff. Delete GC app and reinstall.

Reset Network settings on iOS

Restarted FR 955 and iPhone

I do not want to reset the FR955 or all the non activity data will be lost and thats weeks of HRV etc build up.

Suggestions?

  • After repeating the process a few times and me deciding to sit outside it decided to join the party and re-pair!

  • glad you had success. my only other suggestion that is not invasive like resetting the 955 is to remove GC from your phone and set it (GC) up from scratch by reinstalling it. that would preserve watch data but clear any BT gremlins associated with GC.

  • Hi Derek, Yes that's largely what I did. Signed out of account in GC also. Thanks for your inputs in this forum!

  • I’ve bean having these kind of bt problems with my forerunner 935 and iPhone for 5 years. So garmin still isn’t able to solve this.

  • I think it's just Bluetooth doing what Bluetooth does best - not really wanting to connect with things the first time around.  There's been many times when I've sat there with a Bluetooth device right next to my phone and refusing to see the phone.  It usually gets there after a few tries.  Same thing happens with new Garmin devices I've had as well, which can be frustrating when I want to get them set up the first time.

  • By any chance, did you switch off and on your BT frequently either from phone or watch?

I have a few Garmin for the last 3 years and Pixel phones. They connect seamlessly. My BT is ON all the times though.

Yes I read a couple of connection issues with iphones.

  • Haven't had an issue until recently. Hadnt turned BT on / off , always on.. Probbaly just "one of those things" ...

  • I have not managed to connect my 955 with GC at all.  Been through all the Garmin "help" on the topic.  Spent hours on phone to Garmin.  They sent a new 955.  Same issue.  Interestingly I downloaded the Garmin Explore app and it will pair with that fine - although this says the 955 is Beta.  I wonder if the latest iPhone updates have stuffed something up with GC (I am on 15.6 - also had problem with 15.5 - but can pair painfree to a friends iphone on 15.3)

  • My bluetooth is always on. Bluetooth headphones connect without problems. My cheap keyring bluetooth tag (a nut) connects without a problem. My car radio connects without a problem.

The guy who runs the 5k runner switched from Android phone to iPhone because of bluetooth problems. (dough he says he didn't have much problems since)

I don't take my phone to my sleepingroom, but I wear my watch 24/7. Most of the time my watch does not connect in the morning.

When I come home after a run (without my iPhone) several things can happen. Either the watch and the phone says there is no connection. The phone says there is an connection, the watch says there is no connection, garmin connect says there is a connection. It even tries to sync, without success. And sometimes all agree there is a connection and syncing is a succes.

Tried al the 'good' advice from garmin. For me, turning bluetooth of and on again om my iPhone is the easiest way to restore the connection. But I do have to keep an eye on it. Otherwise I miss notifications on my watch and I like to keep my phone on silent.

Bluetooth on a gamin sucks. I asked dutch support which bluetooth version their newer watch use. They can't tell. So I asked garmin USA. They can't tell either. What kind of stupid company is that? They don't even know their own product.
