So I have a new FR955 (happy) but, I'm having problems with maps.
I went into garmin connect on my iphone yesterday and requested download of Topo Active America's North (9.x GB)... it asked me to complete the action on the watch - so that's what i did. Nothing much seemed to happen, so I went to bed hoping it would complete overnight.... i checked this morning, and same again - nothing happened so i requeued it.
later this morning I decided it was time to charge my FR955 (it was at 60%...) plugged in the charging cable, and after a few minutes it presented a notification that it was going to start downloading maps...
.... i removed it from charge 2 hours later with charge at 100% and maps download at 19%
.... 45 minutes later battery is at 92%, and maps are at 24%...
irritating though the battery drain is, i kind of understand it - but what doesn't make sense is that there's noway out of the map sync process on the watch without cancelling the sync. The watch on't have finished download of maps for another 7 or 8 hours... so I'm now going to cancel the sync so i can use the watch. Crazy system - what am i missing? (and if I'm missing something why doesn't either the watch or garmin connect prompt me to the right course of action?)
